On Saturday, March 25th, Jonathan Majors was apprehended by the New York Police Department for alleged counts of harassment, strangulation, and assault. Majors is set to appear in court on May 8 if nothing else happens.
Majors supposedly contacted the NYPD via a 911 call over an alleged domestic dispute, prompting them to respond in Chelsea, Manhattan. Majors was removed from the scene where the police purportedly discovered a 30-year-old female who “informed police she was assaulted.” According to a statement by the Deputy Commission Public Information, the woman was taken to the hospital for minor head and neck injuries. Prosecutors argued for a supervised release for Majors and a full protection order. Still, the judge granted a Limited Order of Protection, releasing Majors from police custody early in the morning.
Majors’ defense layer Priya Chaudhry claims that there is enough proof that the Marvel actor is innocent of these charges. Chaudhry purports that she has evidence that allegedly includes “video footage from the vehicle where this episode took place, witness testimony from the driver and others who both saw and heard the episode, and most importantly, two written statements from the woman recanting these allegations.” Chaudhry states that the incident allegedly occurred due to the woman’s seemingly emotional crisis. Because the “NYPD is required to make an arrest in these situations,” Majors was supposedly arrested on those grounds. “We are quickly gathering and presenting evidence to the District Attorney with the expectation that all charges will be dropped imminently,” Chaudhry proposes.
