Marvel Officially Confirms Scarlet Witch Died In Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness

The fate of the Scarlet Witch has received an awful update as Marvel confirmed that the character died in Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness. Fans have been confused as to whether Wanda Maximoff was actually dead because, in the MCU timeline, there have been characters that have returned.

However, in the MCU book titled Marvel Studios’ The Marvel Cinematic Universe: An Official Timeline, Scarlet Witch’s demise appears to be confirmed. At the end of Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness, Wanda Maximoff destroys Mount Wundagore and there is a burst of her chaos magic as the rocks crush her. The book says, “[Wanda] destroys Wundagore – and collapses it upon herself – ending two great threats to all of the Multiverse.” The entry in the book also has a symbol corresponding to a major character’s death, officially confirming the Scarlet Witch as dead.

Wanda destroyed Mount Wundagore by destroying the Darkhold, the book that corrupted her throughout Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness. By destroying the mountain and every copy of the Darkhold in every universe, she sacrificed herself in the process.

However, fans still believe Wanda could return to the MCU because of events in Agatha All Along. In episode 5 of Agatha All Along, the “Teen” character is revealed as Wiccan/William Kaplan/Billy Maximoff. Episode 6 revealed how the soul of Billy Maximoff, one-half of the twins of Wanda and Vision, was reincarnated into William Kaplan’s body after he died in a car accident.

Billy reveals he is searching for his twin, Tommy. So, fans have the hope that the brothers will attempt to look for Wanda together and that the MCU will adapt the Young Avengers: The Children’s Crusade comic run at some point despite everyone in Agatha believing the Scarlet Witch is dead.

Elizabeth Olsen has also stated she will not appear in Agatha All Along as Scarlet Witch, but hasn’t completely rejected the possibility of an MCU return for the character.
