Marvel’s Black Panther universe is back with an all-new animated spinoff series coming to Disney+. The series, Eyes of Wakanda, executive produced by Ryan Coogler, will focus on Wakanda’s warriors: the Hatut Zeraze. Audiences will learn how these warriors kept the kingdom safe and protected its highly coveted vibranium.
Vibranium is known as an extraordinary metal with unimaginable abilities, making it highly sought after. It was used for Captain America’s shield, Sam Wilson’s new Captain America suit and countless other weapons and suits.
According to Comicbook, the series will be a four-episode special that will “[follow] the adventures of brave Wakandan warriors throughout history. In this globe-trotting adventure, the heroes must carry out dangerous missions to retrieve Vibranium artifacts from the enemies of Wakanda. They are the Hatut Zeraze, and this is their story.”
Brad Winderbaum previously told Comicbook that Eyes of Wakanda “is an MCU show. This is the history of Wakanda as told through the War Dogs, and it is some of the best animation we’ve ever done. Todd Harris is the creator of that one. That’s just such a cool show.”
The new show spans hundreds of years and features the voices of Winnie Harlow, Cress Williams, Patricia Belcher, Larry Herron, Adam Gold, Lynn Whitfield, Jacques Colimon, Jona Xiao, Isaac Robinson-Smith, Gary Anthony Williams, Zeke Alton, Steve Toussaint and Anika Noni Rose.
The idea for the show was pitched by Todd Harris during the development of Avengers: Infinity War. Harris said the series will explore new locations, including K’un-Lun, one of the Seven Capital Cities of Heaven. “It’s a love letter to what a culture can be when they draw a line in the sand about, ‘You will not cross here, and we will not go over there,’” Harris said. “But they’re focused on being the best versions of themselves throughout history. You have your defectors, and you have people who bucked the system, and what does that mean to Wakanda and what does that mean for the world? Those are the things I’m excited to show as we move forward through the series.”
Eyes of Wakanda is set to premiere on Disney+ on Aug. 6, 2025.
