Marvel Actor Jonathan Majors Headed to Assault Trial On Wednesday

Marvel actor Jonathan Majors is set to go to trial on Wednesday in New York City following his alleged assault and harassment case. This decision comes after about a month of deliberation amongst the New York Criminal Court, where they ultimately decided to hold the trial on November 29th. Despite many requests from him and his defense team to dismiss the trial, the prosecution will move forward with their accusations against the actor.

Majors has pleaded not guilty after an alleged domestic dispute involving his then-girlfriend, Grace Jabbari. In August, Majors’ attorney, Priya Chaudhry, released statement to CNN stating that Majors “has had his life, career, and reputation torn apart” due to the allegations. His former girlfriend had claimed that Majors allegedly struck her “about the face with an open hand, causing substantial pain and a laceration behind her ear,” according to CNN Entertainment. The actor filed a counter-complaint against Jabbari. According to court filings, he claimed Jabbari allegedly assaulted him in March as well.

Jabbari was arrested in October on suspicion of assault. However, the DA claimed to have declined to prosecute the case against Jabbari “because it lacks prosecutorial merit.” A judge denied Majors’ wish to dismiss the assault case. Jabbari and her attorney have yet to comment on the case. The trial is expected to last several days.

Disney has removed the upcoming film Magazine Dreams from the release calendar. Majors’ PR and management also dropped him due to the allegations.

Majors is well known for featuring in Ant-Man: Quantumania and the Disney+ Marvel series Loki. Because of his prominence in the MCU, it’s currently unknown how this will affect his role in the upcoming Avengers: The Kang Dynasty.
