Timothée Chalamet’s Marty Supreme has been making waves in the U.K. The Hollywood Reporter confirmed that the film is officially A24’s highest-grossing release of all time across the Atlantic, having so far made $8.6 million as of Jan. 6.
The film, directed by Josh Safdie, also stars Odessa A’zion, Gwyneth Paltrow and Tyler, The Creator, has surpassed Alex Garland’s Civil War in just less than two weeks. The film hit theaters on Christmas Day.
The film was also ahead of the pack by making $4.38 million over its first weekend in about 130 locations, another high for the studio. Compared to another big film of 2025, One Battle After Another, made around $3.3 million in its opening weekend in U.K. theaters.
Marty Supreme was distributed by Entertainment Film Distributors in Britain. And a key part of the large audience turnout was due to Chalamet’s marketing campaign. The star held global pop-up events for merch, namely the Marty Supreme jacket. Chalamet even enlisted U.K. celebrities such as Britain’s Got Talent singer Susan Boyle and U.K. musician EsDeeKid, who gained much attention because of fans speculating that it was Chalamet in disguise.
Chalamet gifted Boyle a jacket because “she dreamt bigger than all of us.” And he later appeared side by side with EsDeeKid rapping his own verse on his hit song “4 Raws.”
As of Jan. 5, Marty Supreme has grossed $57.5 million in the U.S. and Canada. Chalamet has been garnering recognition as one of the favorites for the Best Actor Academy Award, and just recently won the Critics’ Choice award for the same category.
