Leonardo DiCaprio and Martin Scorsese have teamed up to produce Carthage Must Be Destroyed, a new action film set to be directed by Ocean’s Eleven screenwriter Ted Griffin. Also producing the film is Chad A. Verdi and, through LBI Entertainment, Christopher Donelly and Gareth Wes.
The film is set to be an action thriller about a stranger who happens upon a failing rust-belt city ruled by a criminal underworld and, through pure brain and brawn, dismantles the city’s corruption. DiCaprio and Scorsese are executive producing the film, while Paul Luba, Jennifer Davisson, and the previously mentioned Verdi, Donelly, and Wes will be producing. Sikelia Productions, Appian Way Productions, Verdi Productions, and Ketchup Entertainment are set to be the production companies behind the film, with Verdi Productions and Ketchup Entertainment financing.
Verdi Productions CEO Chad A. Verdi, who also serves as one of the film’s producers, describes the film as “a dynamic project” and that he and the rest of the film’s producers were inspired to “bring Ted’s outstanding screenplay to the big screen. It’s a pleasure to be collaborating with Marty, Leo, Jen, Gareth, and Chris, and our extraordinary producing team will elevate this project to new heights.”
Casting is underway, with production set to begin in October in Rhode Island.
