Mark Wahlberg to Star in Upcoming Film ‘Arthur The King’

Mark Wahlberg is attached to the upcoming Paramount film Arthur The King, based on the book “Arthur: The Dog who Crossed the Jungle to Find a Home” by Mikael Lindnord, captain of a Swedish racing team. The film will follow the story of how, on a 400 mile race through the brutal terrain of Ecuadorian jungles, Lindnord came across a stray dog that he bonded with after throwing the dog a meatball. The dog would then proceed to follow Lindnord for the remainder of his journey, leading to the captain adopting the dog and naming him Arthur.

Wahlberg is set to star as Lindnord, though no director has reportedly been attached to the project. Michael Brandt, writer of 3:10 to Yuma, has written the screenplay. Those set to produce the film include Mark Canton, Tucker Tooley, Courtney Solomon and Tessa Tooley. Mikael Lindnord will executive produce Arthur The King alongside Brandt and Dorothy Canton.

Wahlberg’s recent credits include Daddy’s Home and its sequel, Daddy’s Home 2, which together made upwards of $422M worldwide. He also starred opposite Rose Byrne in the 2018 comedy Instant Family. Most recently, Wahlberg will be starring in the upcoming Netflix mystery film called Wonderland, directed by Peter Berg and written by Sean O’Keefe, based on a book of the same name by Ace Atkins.
