Mark Ruffalo’s Comment During Interview Sparks ‘Avengers: Secret Wars’ Speculation

The next fight for the Avengers is just around the corner with the release of Avengers: Doomsday later this year. While fans already know the full lineup of heroes expected from Doomsday, new rumors thanks to one cast member in particular are emerging about what characters could be seen in both Doomsday and Secret Wars

When it comes to Avengers: Doomsday, it’s no secret who the lineup of heroes will be. The full cast reveal early last year promised appearances from the Fantastic Four, the Thunderbolts, the current Avengers, and even the X-Men from the original era of Fox films.

Chris Hemsworth as Thor is among those known to be appearing, with him being one of the few remaining members going all the way back to the Phase 1 days of the MCU. As another member of the original Avengers cast, Mark Ruffalo’s Hulk has been confirmed to be in the upcoming Spider-Man: Brand New Day, but supposedly isn’t appearing in Doomsday.

A new Buzzfeed interview (posted by Avengers Updates), however, suggests that both will be in the follow-up film Secret Wars. While promoting their new film Crime 101, Ruffalo and Hemsworth were asked to recall how many comic book projects they’ve been in. As Hemsworth was counting them off, Ruffalo suggests an extra one, getting a shocked reaction from Hemsworth. Ruffalo responds with “well, there will be,” to which Hemsworth states “we haven’t shot that one.”

IGN noted that the way the interaction went suggests that both heroes will appear in Secret Wars in 2027. Some sources are stating Hemsworth will appear, although there hasn’t been any official confirmation, but Ruffalo’s suggested casting is puzzling fans even more. He hasn’t been confirmed for Doomsday or Secret Wars officially in any capacity, but speculation has amped up thanks to this if the Hulk will make an appearance.

On top of there being no official word, it’s important to bear in mind that Ruffalo embellishing possibly spoilery details is par for the course with Marvel. One interview with Good Morning America saw him almost give away the twist ending of Avengers: Infinity War, as he said “everybody dies” at the end of the film. While that didn’t end up being quite the case, there was still a high death toll in the movie.
