Mark Hamill Could Potentially Join ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3’

Sci-fi fans rejoice! According to the Hollywood Reporter, there’s possibility that Mark Hamill could be joining Chris Pratt and the rest of the heroic entourage in the next installment of the Guardians of the Galaxy series.

The internet is a wonderful thing sometimes. With social media platforms allowing avenues for trolling and harsh criticism most of the time, one can forget the upside of this instant connectedness. It also has the power to allow fans to communicate with their idols. That is exactly what happened this past Sunday evening.

Beginning with a fan merely shooting his shot on Twitter asking Guardians 3 director James Gunn to include Hamill in the film in some way, he was soon given a response by Gunn himself.

“I think (Mark Hamill) lives around the corner from me in Malibu so he can just come over and we can talk about it over a cup of coffee,” Gunn replied.

As if that wasn’t enough of a long shot, Hamill proceeded to respond as well, agreeing to meet up with the Marvel director.

“I would be happy to do so, both as a good neighbor & an unemployed actor. All the best, mh,” Hamill said.

The internet rejoiced accordingly, with even Josh Gad (who made big news last year in his hilarious videos trying to get Star Wars actress Daisy Ridley to spoil The Last Jedi for him) inputting his own reaction on the Twitter thread. The exchange didn’t last long, ending with Hamill asking Gunn to DM him for contact info. Nevertheless, the stage is now set for a match made in sci-fi fanboy heaven. Let’s keep our fingers crossed.

Guardians of the Galaxy vol. 3 is expected to begin filming in the early part of next year and is set to release in 2020.
