According to The Hollywood Reporter, Margot Robbie, the Australian breakout star from this year’s Suicide Squad playing the enigmatic Harley Quinn, has just been cast in Will Gluck’s and Sony’s CGI adaptation of Peter Rabbit.
Though the details of her character have not yet been revealed she may voice one of the rabbits alongside James Corden (The Late Late Show), who is playing the title character. Rose Bryne (Neighbors), who will narrate the story as ‘Bea’ ‘Beatrix Potter like figure, Domhnall Gleeson (Star Wars: The Force Awakens), who is playing Mr. McGreggor, Diaisy Ridley (Star Wars: The Force Awakens) and Elizabeth Debicki (The Great Gatsby) have also joined the cast. Peter Rabbit is the famed children’s story by Beatrix Potter. It centers on Peter Rabbit and Mr. McGregor, a farmer who hates rabbits, especially Peter, who constantly eat his garden. However, Gluck’s version is said to be ‘modernize’ the tale.
Robbie has appeared in Whiskey Tango Foxtrot, The Legend of Tarzan and Suicide Squad this year alone. She recently completed work on the upcoming thriller Terminal and is currently shooting Fox Searchlight’s forthcoming bio on Winnie the Pooh creator A.A. Milne (also opposite Domhnall Gleeson). She is also expected to star and produce an upcoming film centered around infamous figure skater Tonya Harding.
The film’s release date has not yet been announced.
