Margaret Qualley And Drew Starkey Join Michael Shannon In New Jeff Nichols Film ‘King Snake’

Margaret Qualley in Blue Moon

Margaret Qualley and Drew Starkey have been cast in King Snake, the next film from Jeff Nichols, the writer and director of films such as Take Shelter, Mud, Midnight Special, and The Bikeriders. The stars will be joined by Michael Shannon, a frequent collaborator with Nichols.

Nichols will be writing and directing King Snake. It is being described as a Southern Gothic horror movie, following Qualley and Starkey as a young couple who inherit a farm in Arkansas, where they must confront the physical and metaphysical demons that haunt the property. Nichols will also be producing the film, along with Brian Kavanaugh-Jones and Sarah Green, through Tri-State Pictures.

Production studio FilmNation will finance the film and is currently shopping it out to international distributors through the American Film Market.

Alongside this announcement, Nichols, Green, and Kavanaugh-Jones issued a joint statement commenting on their upcoming collaboration with FilmNation, saying:

“We are extremely excited to be partnering with FilmNation once again, having fortified a strong creative relationship with them over the years. FilmNation has an exceptional track record supporting unique, innovative voices and auteur filmmakers, having produced and financed some of the most remarkable, award-winning films of our time. There was no better partner for King Snake than [FilmNation CEO] Glen [Basner] and the entire FilmNation team.”
