Actress Maika Monroe (Independence Day: Resurrection) is attached to the upcoming thriller film The Widow. With its ominous title, it sounds like the movie will have plenty of intriguing moments to watch.
While the current posted list of Monroe’s coworkers is still fairly small, it looks like she will be in good company. Monroe will be acting alongside Chloë Grace Moretz (Clouds of Sils Maria) and Isabelle Huppert (Amour). It seems like Huppert has been cast as the titular widow with a potential dark side, while Monroe and Moretz will be playing two young friends.
Neil Jordan will direct the film. Jordan has plenty of experience in the field of cinema, trying his hand at writing, directing, and producing. He also boasts plenty of experience in both television and film, working on shows like The Borgias and Riviera and making movies like Breakfast on Pluto and The End of the Affair. Considering his vast experience, the talents of Monroe and Moretz, and the gravitas of established actress Huppert, the film looks like it has the tools it needs to succeed. However, The Widow is only in pre-production, so its creators still have some time left before audiences can make that judgment for their own.
