Sony Pictures Releasing has acquired Madtown, an intense drama starring This Is Us actor Milo Ventimiglia. John Billingsley, Bonita Friedericy, Rachel Melvin and Amanda Aday co-star in the film.

The story involves a disturbed young man, Briggs (Ventimiglia), who is confronted with his disturbing past when his estranged sister is released from prison after murdering their parents. Briggs must unravel his past to save and rebuild his future.

Charles Moore wrote and directed the film has his narrative feature debut. He previously wrote and directed the documentary Catching Salinger.

Sony Home Entertainment will release Madtown on January 5th.
