Kate Winslet and Mackenzie Foy (Interstellar) will be featured in Ashley Avis’s film Black Beauty. The film is adapted from Anna Sewell’s best-selling novel which details the relationship between 17-year-old Jo (Foy) and her horse Beauty, voiced by Winslet. Their connection helps Jo cope with the death of her parents. The story will be updates to fit within a modern context. Sewell’s novel is among the top ten best selling children novels that have ever existed.
The film’s script is also penned by Avis. Jeremy Bolt and Robert Kulzer will be collaborating together to produce the film. Both of them have previously worked on the Resident Evil franchise.
Constantin Films will be taking this film and the film Wrong Turn, another project in the pre-production stage, to Cannes to be sold by Mister Smith Entertainment. Wrong Turn centers on six New Yorkers who take a trip to the West Virginia Mountains. Little did they know, they encounter a group of cannibals called the Foundation. The film will be directed by Mike P. Nelson and the script is by Alan B. McElroy. There have already been several films about this cult classic first released by Fox in 2003.
