Oscar nominee Lucas Hedges and Golden Globe/Emmy winner Sterling K. Brown are in negotiations to star in the dramatic musical Waves, according to Variety. The film will be Trey Edward Shults’ follow-up to the indie hit It Comes At Night.
A24 is distributing the film, which will be a musical following the development of two young couples’ romance as they grow from teenagers into adulthood. The music will combine well-known songs with original music written by Oscar winners Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross. Shults wrote the film and will be directing.
This is Shults’ third collaboration with A24 after It Comes At Night and Krisha.
Sterling K. Brown, known for his groundbreaking work on NBC’s This is Us and The People v. OJ, recently appeared in Black Panther. He will next be starring in The Predator and alongside Blake Lively in The Rhythm Section.
Hedges, Oscar nominated for Manchester by the Sea, also recently starred in Lady Bird and Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri. Coming up, he has Joel Edgerton’s Oscar-eyeing film Boy Erased and Jonah Hill’s directorial debut Mid-90s.
