Louis C.K. Film Available for $5

Louis C.K. is one of today’s most successful comedians. He self-produced his 2011 stand-up special, Live at the Beacon Theater, and released it online for only five dollars – it made him over one million. His television show, Louie – which he stars in, writes, and directs – receives regular critical acclaim and will be going into its fourth season this May. He’s appeared on The Daily Show and Saturday Night Live, and has acting roles in Woody Allen’s Blue Jasmine, David O. Russel’s American Hustle, and as it was recently announced, an upcoming animated feature by Illumination Entertainment. He’s recognizable and respected in the entertainment industry, but that wasn’t the case back in 1998, when he made a film titled Tomorrow Night.

Writer/Director Louis C.K.

Deadline describes Tomorrow Night as a “dark comedy, about a photo shop owner obsessed with ice cream…[C.K.] took it to film festivals…[but] distributors balked and the movie sat fading into obscurity in his storage locker.” Now, Tomorrow Night is getting a new lease on life. C.K. has made the film available on his website, and just like his comedy special, it’s available for a mere five dollars. It boasts a cast of many comedians, including Robert Smigel, Chuck Sklar, Rick Shapiro, Heather Morgan, Nick Diapolo, Martha Greenhouse, Greg Hahn, Carey Prusa, Joseph Dolphin, Amy Poehler, J.B. Smoove, Steve Carell, Wanda Sykes, and Conan O’Brien.

In C.K.’s own words, via his website:

Tomorrow Night is a feature-length film I wrote and directed back in 1998. I was a struggling comedian and TV writer at the time and I pulled together my savings and some of my friends money to make this movie on black and white 16mm film.

He also adds:

Please don’t torrent or otherwise steal this so I can keep doing things this way.
