Logan Lerman (Fury) and Elle Fanning (Maleficent) have been chosen to lead the cast for Shawn Christensen‘s (Before I Disappear) latest indie venture Sidney Hall, according to Variety.
Also written by Christensen, the film will follow the young writer Sidney Hall (Lerman) as he writes the novel of his generation, chronicling various phases of his life between the ages of 18 and 30 after which he disappears without a trace. Fanning’s particular role has not yet been revealed, however, we do know that also joining the pair will be Michelle Monaghan (Gone Baby Gone), Kyle Chandler (Wolf of Wall Street), and Nathan Lane (The Producers).
Lerman, along with Super Crispy Entertainment, the producers behind the Drake Doremus films Like Crazy and Breathe In, are financing and will be circling the film at various festivals, although it has already had plenty of interest from the likes of Amazon Studios and Fox Searchlight. Production is set to begin next week in New York City.
Christensen is best known for his Oscar-winning short film Curfew which was adapted into a feature called Before I Disappear in 2014. He wrote, directed, and starred in the film alongside Emmy Rossum (TV’s Shameless).
Many actors tested for the title role of Sidney Hall, however, Lerman won out with his ability to convincingly portray the protagonist during each stage of his young adult life. Lerman was last seen in Fury with Brad Pitt. This year, he will be starring in Indignation with Sarah Gadon (Hulu’s 11.22.63).
Fanning, recently turned 18-years-old, is now on the path to more mature roles. This will begin with starring in Nicholas Winding Refn’s The Neon Demon, to be released this June. She is also set to star in Sofia Coppola‘s The Beguiled with Kirsten Dunst and Nicole Kidman, as well as in Ben Affleck‘s Live By Night, set for 2017.
