Live-Action ‘Moana’ Teaser Trailer Becomes One Of Disney’s Biggest Trailer Debuts

Disney’s Live-Action Moana may be one of Disney’s biggest hits, if the view count on the film’s recently released teaser trailer is anything to go by. According to report by Deadline, the teaser trailer for the upcoming live-action remake garnered 182 million views when it was first released online on Monday. This view count makes it the second most viewed trailer for a Disney remake, behind the first teaser trailer for the 2019 remake of The Lion King, which garnered 225 million views on the first day of its release.

This view count also puts the Moana trailer into the ranking for all 2025 trailer releases. It falls just shy of the recently released teaser for the upcoming The Devil Wears Prada 2, which received 185 million views, and the first trailer for The Fantastic Four: First Steps, which received 202 million views.

The upcoming live-action remake of Moana is directed by Thomas Kail.  It stars Catherine Laga’aia, who will make her film debut as Moana, and Dwayne Johnson, who will reprise his role as the demigod Maui from the animated original. The remake comes only one year after the release of the sequel to the animated film, Moana 2, which grossed over $1 billion worldwide in 2024.

Moana will be released in theaters on July 10, 2026.
