The Live-Action remake of How to Train Your Dragon has become an enormous streaming success since its release on the streaming service, Peacock, on Friday. By Saturday, the film had reached number 1 on Peacock’s top ten most-watched films and had become the most-watched film of all time on the streaming service. The release of the live-action film on Peacock also led to a boost in viewership of the original animated How to Train Your Dragon trilogy, with all three films ending up in the top ten on the service as well.
This news of the live-action remake’s streaming success on Peacock comes after the film had already achieved significant box office success. Worldwide, How to Train Your Dragon (2025) made $635.74 million, making it the highest-grossing film in the How to Train Your Dragon series. The film grossed more than all three films of the original animated trilogy, with the first animated How to Train Your Dragon making $494.87 million, How to Train Your Dragon 2 making $621.53 million, and the final film in the trilogy, How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World, making $539.98 million.
The success of the live-action remake has already led to the announcement of a sequel, How to Train Your Dragon 2, which will be released in theaters on June 11th, 2027, and is said to be a remake of the second movie in the animated trilogy.
