Live-Action ‘Curious George’ Set for Andrew Adamson at Universal

A live-action adaptation of the popular children’s book series written by Margret & H.A. Rey, Curious George is in the works at Universal Pictures. Deadline says Andrew Adamson is in talks to co-write and direct.

Adamson is no stranger to family films, he has worked as a producer, director, and writer for the first two Narnia films, as well as,  directing the first two installments to the Shrek franchise. This is not Universal’s first shot at a Curious George film. They originally brought the character to life on the screen in an animated feature in 2006, featuring Will Ferrell’s voice as The Man in the Yellow Hat. Over the years Curious George has popped up in many forms including an Emmy-winning children’s show on PBS.

Curious George was originally conceived in 1941 by Houghton Mifflin. Since then the Curious George name has become globally recognizable. The book series has sold over 75 million copies.

Imagine Entertainment has Ron Howard producing along with David Kirschner, Jon Shapiro, and Erica Huggins.
