The forthcoming action comedy The Spy Who Dumped Me has added comedian Hasan Minhaj, as reported first by Deadline. Mila Kunis and Kate McKinnon are already attached to the high-concept comedy and as was previously reported, Outlander breakout Sam Heughan is currently in negotiations to join the cast. Susanna Fogel (Life Partners) will direct from a screenplay she co-penned by David Iserson. The film is expected to head into production this summer.
Hilarity hopes to ensue as two best friends Audrey and Morgan (Kunis and McKinnon) discover the man who recently dumped Audrey is actually a spy. Upon discovery, two duo find themselves involved in an internationally conspiracy. Heughan is in talks to portray the spy with Minhaj set to portray a CIA operative who is hot on the catch once Audrey and Morgan make a run for it.
Minhaj is likely best-known as a member of the ensemble of Comedy Central’s The Daily Show with Trevor Noah. He is currently filming the comedy Most Likely to Murder starring Rachel Bloom (Crazy Ex-Girlfriend) and Adam Pally (Band-Aid) and has a part in the raunchy, Scarlett Johansson-led comedy Rough Night (which co-stars McKinnon), which is set to open on June 16th. Minhaj also recently premiered a comedy special – Hasan Minhaj: Homecoming King – which is currently streaming on Netflix. The comedian recently and memorably hosted the POTUS-free White House Correspondents Dinner.
The Spy Who Dumped Me is set to debut in theaters on July 6, 2018.
