Lionsgate plucks one of Disney‘s best as today they officially inked producer Kristin Burr and her company, Burr! Productions, to massive multi-film deal according to Deadline.
Burr is not the first addition to team up with the studio, as Lionsgate landed previous deals with executives Evan Goldberg, Seth Rogen and James Weaver as well as their respective production banner Point Grey Pictures. Chad Stahelski, Jonathan Levine, and Stephen “Doctor” Love were also acquired by Lionsgate to multi-year pacts.
Spending the past 20 years as an executive with The Walt Disney Company, Burr established a impressive catalog of work producing films such as Disney’s Christopher Robin and Paramount and Walden Media’s smashing success Dora and the Lost City of Gold. The Lionsgate deal was publicized today by Nathan Kahane who is currently the president of the Motion Picture Group.
Burr is now in the midst of production on the upcoming Netflix musical Jingle Jangle, which stars Forest Whitaker featuring original compositions by John Legend. Burr is also in the post-production stage of Disney’s Cruella starring Emma Stone which is eyeing a May 28, 2021 release date.
Burr was originally hired by Disney in 1997 as a creative executive before her segue into producing in 2017. During that span she was named EVP of Production and oversaw a handful of projects such as Sweet Home Alabama, The Proposal, The Prestige, The Muppets, The Life Aquatic, the 2003 remake of Freaky Friday, and Mary Poppins Returns.
