Lionsgate faces some trouble entering the new year as the studio announced towards the end of the week that they would be pushing back the release date for upcoming thriller starring Sarah Paulson titled Run, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The film was initially slated to be released next week on January 24, but the studio agreed to move it up comfortably to a May 8, 2020 release date.
Run’s story will see Paulson portray a single mother eagerly raising her teen daughter (Kiera Allen) in a shielding manner, only for the child to slowly discover over the course of her life that her mother is plotting something sinister for her future. Former rugby union player Luke Gross will also be featured in a unspecified role. Run is expected to compete with Legally Blonde 3, Covers and a Tom Hanks-led war drama titled Greyhound on the weekend of May 8, 2020.
Run has been developed by the very crew that filmed the critically successful 2018 film Searching, which starred John Cho and was shot to resemble a webcam/computer POV perspective. The film will be directed by Aneesh Chaganty and feature a production duo consisting of Natalie Qasabian and Sev Ohanian, with Torin Borrowdale composing the film’s score.
