Lin-Manuel Miranda Reveals He Composed Secret Song For ‘The Rise of Skywalker’

Lin-Manuel Miranda is not throwing away his shot… to be in the newest Star Wars movie. The brains behind the showstopping Broadway musical Hamilton has reportedly contributed a song to Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker in addition to his film cameo.

Miranda revealed his involvement in a tweet Tuesday, sharing a photo of himself and The Rise of Skywalker director J.J. Abrams. This follows their collaboration on Abrams’ last Star Wars film, The Force Awakens, in which Miranda also composed a song.  The 2015 film utilized Miranda’s musical talents for the song “Jabba Flow,” which plays in the bar scene where audiences are introduced to Maz Kanata (performed through CGI motion-capture by Luptia Nyong’o). As this track contains electronic music influences, like many others featured in the Star Wars films, audiences can suspect the new composition will sound familiar.

It is unknown as to which scene The Rise of Skywalker will feature Miranda’s newest composition, but fans can be sure to spot his cameo as a Resistance fighter. Star WarsThe Rise of Skywalker is in theaters everywhere Dec. 20.
