Lily Mo Sheen, the daughter of Underworld star Kate Beckinsale and Good Omens angel Michael Sheen, has been cast to play Nicolas Cage’s daughter in the meta-comedy The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent, Deadline reports.
The Lionsgate project has started filming with Nicolas Cage and Pedro Pascal, but casting other roles is still underway. Most recently, Lily Sheen has joined the cast as Addy, Nicolas Cage’s daughter in the film, though in real life Cage has two sons and no daughters.
This news comes just after just about a month after superstar Tiffany Haddish signed on to play a CIA agent. Game Night alum Sharon Horgan has also joined the growing cast.
The film follows Nicolas Cage as Nicolas Cage at a low point creatively and financially in his life. To overcome his unrest, he takes a large pay day to attend a birthday party for a fan(Pedro Pascal). However, the fan has ties to a drug syndicate so the CIA tasks Nicolas Cage to take the fan down.
The film is directed co-written by Tom Gormican, while Kevin Etten is the other scribe. Gormican’s project is taking a massive swing with its meta narrative and a star studded cast.
This will be only Sheen’s fourth credit having also been in 2006’s Underworld: Evolution and Click, albeit in smaller roles. Both films also starred her mother Kate Beckinsale. This is the first credit in the young actor’s career where family is not involved, perhaps truly starting her career.
It will certainly be an exciting role for Lily Sheen to play opposite Nicolas Cage playing a version of himself. Perhaps bringing humanity or humor to the picture.
The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent has started filming and is expected to be released on March 19, 2021.
