Lily Collins will portray Audrey Hepburn in a new feature that centers around the production of the iconic romantic comedy Breakfast at Tiffany’s. The film will be an adaptation of Sam Wasson’s 2010 New York Times bestseller Fifth Avenue, 5 A.M.: Audrey Hepburn, Breakfast at Tiffany’s and the Dawn of the Modern Woman with a screenplay written by Dickinson creator Alena Smith.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the novel follows the making of Breakfast at Tiffany’s through “pre-production, on-set issues, and a release that became a watershed moment in film, fashion and larger culture,”. Included will be characters such as writer Truman Capote, director Black Edwards, costume designer Edith Head, ‘Moon River’ composer Henry Mancini, as well as Hepburn herself. Lily Collins, best known for her lead role in Netflix’s Emily in Paris, took to Instagram to share her joy over the announcement, writing in a caption:
It’s with almost 10 years of development and a lifetime of admiration and adoration for Audrey that I’m finally able share this. Honored and ecstatic don’t begin to express how I feel…
Collin’s production company, Case Study Films, and Imagine Entertainment are developing the project with producer Scott LaStaiti. Collins, Charlie, McDowell, and Alex Orlovsky are set to produce under Case Study Films alongside Imagine’s Brian Grazer, Jeb Brody, and Justin Wilkes.
No director is attached to the project as of yet.
