Happy Halloween!
At last, we no longer need to dress up and go door to door for some treats. Last night Columbia Pictures and Skydance treated sci-fi fans when they released the first official trailer for their new space thriller Life. The surprise treat aired unexpectedly while on a commercial break from the latest episode of AMC’s The Walking Dead.
Life is directed by Daniel Espinosa (Child 44) and written by Paul Wernick & Rhett Reese. The story follows the crew of the International Space Station, as they discover the first, single-celled evidence of life outside of Earth. The crew is unable to celebrate their momentous discovery as they soon find out the organism is smarter than they expected.
After the success of Gravity, Interstellar, and most recently, The Martian, Life appears to fit in nicely among the ranks of such tremendous films that have succeeded in capturing what it would be like if we ever were to find ourselves in space. Depicting a crew floating through space is not an easy effect to pull off, especially if they set those characters in thrilling life or death scenario hundreds of miles above Earth.
As if this trailer wasn’t enough of a treat, the cast list is quite impressive too- Jake Gyllenhaal, Rebecca Ferguson, Ryan Reynolds, Hiroyuki Sanada, Ariyon Bakare, and Olga Dihovichnaya.
Life is set to hit theaters Memorial Day weekend. Enjoy the trailer below!
