Melissa McCarthy stars in and her husband Ben Falcone directs Life of the Party, a film loosely based on the Rodney Dangerfield 1986 movie, Back to School.
The film follows a recently and suddenly separated mother, Deanna (played by McCarthy), who opts to finish her degree by joining her daughter, Maddie (played by Molly Gordon) to college. Hilarity and makeovers ensue, much to the surprise of Deanna’s best friend Christine (played by Maya Rudolph). Gillian Jacobs (HBO’s Love), Julie Bowen (TV’s Modern Family), Jacki Weaver (Silver Linings Playbook), Debby Allen (TV’s Suite Life on Deck), Matt Walsh (HBO’s Veep), and Adria Arjona (HBO’s True Detective) also star.
McCarthy and Falcone recently gave away $75,000 on the Ellen Degeneres Show to a mother-daughter team who both graduated college together.
Life of the Party will be in theaters on May 11, 2018.
