Liam Neeson to Star in Action Thriller ‘The Commuter’

Ever since taking his turn as retired CIA agent Bryan Mills in the 2009 thriller, Taken, Liam Neeson found new life as an action badass. He is at it again with his butt-kicking ways, joining the action thriller The Commuter.

Neeson joins the project being written by Byron Willinger and Phil de Blasi. No director has been hired as of yet, but expect so to happen within the next couple weeks. The Commuter will center around a businessman who gets dragged into in a criminal conspiracy while on his daily commute. Filming is slated to begin next spring.

The project will be produced by The Picture Company’s Andrew Rona and Alex Heineman, who worked together on two other Liam Neeson thrillers, Non-Stop and Unknown.

Neeson recently wrapped up filming for Martin Scorsese‘s Silence – an adaptation of the Shusaku Endo novel – and the fantasy drama, A Monster Calls. His last major film was Run All Night starring alongside Ed Harris. He also had minor cameo roles in two high profile summer movies, Ted 2 (as a customer) and Entourage (as himself).

Production on the film begins next spring in New York.
