Liam Neeson is well known for his roles in action films such as the franchise Taken and Unknown. However, he has also demonstrated a wide dramatic range in films such as Shindler’s List, The ballad of Buster Scruggs, and Silence. The versatile actor, originally from Northern Ireland, has had a busy career and recently opened up about the possibility of starring in Star Wars and Batman sequels.
While giving an interview to Men’s Health a fan asked him about Star Wars. The actor initially played Qui-Gon Jinn in The Phantom Menace and was asked if he would appear in a spinoff prequel. Neeson answered:
“No. Star Wars, no…As much as I admire them… There’s just so many of them now. So, I’ve lost track, unfortunately.”
The actor refers to the quantity of Star Wars content appearing since Disney acquired LucasFilm. Despite this statement, Neeson did appear briefly in The Rise of Skywalker (2019), credited as voice/cameo, also as voice/cameo in Obi-Wan Kenobi (2022), and in Tales of the Jedi (2022).
He was also asked whether he would play a villain in the new Batman films starring Robert Pattinson. The actor also responded negatively:
“No, I’ve already done that it in Batman begins with Christian Bale…I was Ra’s Al Ghul. He wasn’t really a bad guy. He was trying to reorganize the world as it needs to be organized.”
Neeson starred in Batman Begins in 2005. The type of projects the actor is focusing on lately seems to be very different from the DC and Star Wars Universe. Neeson is currently working on several projects. One of these is Thug, which started filming last year in Massachusetts, where the actor was spotted. The film is about an aging gangster trying to reconnect with his children. The actor will also star in the upcoming Robert Lorentz film In the Land of Saints and Sinners.
There are still no release dates for these projects.
