Entertainment Squad, an indie film distribution company, has announced it will be producing a feature-length film based on the 2021 short film Play it Again directed by Dan Abramovici. The film will be produced under their newly acquired PrideFlix label, a label and streaming service focused on lifting LGBTQ+ stories and creators.
The original short film follows best friends Kitty and Erin as they enjoy one last movie night together before Erin flies away. In the film, Kitty struggles to express her romantic feelings towards Erin and plans to reveal all in one big gesture reminiscent of a Hollywood film. The film received praise from multiple film festivals and even wins at NewFilmmakers Los Angeles and North Europe International Film Festival.
Shaked Berenson, founder and CEO of Entertainment Squad, said, “The demand for diverse, inclusive storytelling is stronger than ever,” adding: “With its unique take on queer relationships and a mix of humor and heartfelt drama, Play It Again is primed for both niche LGBTQ+ platforms like PrideFlix as well as mainstream services.”
Play It Again is currently in pre-production, with the release date currently set for 2026. There are no cast members signed on at the moment.
