CAA has just made a deal filling key roles for a highly anticipated upcoming project. SNL’s Leslie Jones and The Good Place‘s Kristen Bell are joining forces to tackle the story of coupon cartel creators in Queenpins. The story revolves around two housewives who start counterfeiting coupons until they soon are running a $40 million coupon cartel.
The film is going to be dark, women-driven comedy with vibes said to be similar to Thelma and Louise and I, Tonya. Like I, Tonya, the film is based on a true story and aims to have the same kind of grittiness.
Aron Gaudet and Gita Pullapilly are attached to write and direct the film. Their last project together was Beneath the Harvest Sky, a gritty drama about a small town Maine potato farming community.
This is yet another female-led comedy film after a few already this year including What Men Want, Isn’t It Romantic?, and Little, which hit theaters this week. They haven’t been big hits at the box office, so we’ll see if this one can breathe some much-needed life into the genre.
CAA is shopping the title around now according to Deadline, and it will surely find a home soon with such big names already attached to star.
