Oscar-nominated director, Lenny Abrahamson (Room), is taking on the feature film adaptation of Neal Bascomb’s upcoming book, The Grand Escape.
Film4 and Element Pictures have optioned the true story about three World War I POWs attempting to escape from a German prison.
A writer to adapt the novel has yet to be attached.
Bascomb’s next book, The Winter Fortress, comes out this May, while he is still in the process of working on The Grand Escape.
Abrahamson’s previous work includes Frank, starring Michael Fassbender (X-Men: Days of Future Past), and What Richard Did. It was Room, however, that truly put the director onto the map, and will likely make him a high commodity for some time to come.
