Charlie Bean (Lego Ninjago) is set to direct a live-action version of the Disney animated film, Lady and the Tramp, making it the next in a long line of remakes of beloved movies. Already, audiences have seen live-action remakes of Cinderella, Beauty and the Beast, and The Jungle Book. Up next on the docket will be Mulan, Aladdin, The Lion King, and now Lady and the Tramp. This upcoming movie will pair the live-action sequences with CG animation to create the final product, which will include Andrew Bujalski’s new script.
The film will be featured on Disney’s digital streaming service, which is set to launch next year. According to the Hollywood Reporter, “The fact that a remake of such a marquee and essential Disney title such as Lady and the Tramp will likely head to the service is another example of how serious the company is taking its streaming platform’s content.”
As of now, there is no specified release date for the remake, though fans can always return to the 1955 original film to refresh their minds on the story.
