Legendary comic book artist and creator Jack Kirby will soon get a definitive documentary of his life, Variety reports.

Set to be directed by Ricki Stern and produced by Dan Braun and Josh Braun of Submarine Entertainment, Kirbyvision will cover the life of the influential creator from growing up in poverty during the Great Depression to fighting in World War II to his long historic career, ranging from co-creating Captain America with Joe Simon, showing the titular hero punching out Adolf Hitler on the cover of the first issue, to helping make some of the most notable characters in Marvel comics, such as The Avengers, Black Panther, Fantastic Four, Hulk, Iron Man, Silver Surfer, Thor, and the X-Men, to some of his other work such as the Fourth World Saga at DC Comics.

Kirbyvision will be made with the cooperation and collaboration of the Jack Kirby estate, which will provide access to personal documents, home movies, and creative materials, several of which will be shown to the public for the first time. Kirby’s daughter Lisa said:

“We are thrilled to work with such a dedicated, passionate, and knowledgeable team of filmmakers…The legacy of Jack Kirby is in good hands…their team share the same creative energy that helped my father create boundless universes of characters that continue to inspire us and shape our imaginations.”
