According to an exclusive from The Hollywood Reporter, Lee Daniels, best known on the film circuit for his directional work in The Butler (2012) and Precious (2009), is going to executive produce the upcoming film Pimp. Though Daniels has extensive credits in the film industry, Pimp will give him a new experience: executive producing.
Christine Crokos will serve as director. She and Daniels will be working with an excellent array of actors. Among them are star Keke Palmer, Edi Gathegi, Aunjanue Ellis, Haley Ramm, and many others.
The plot follows the relationship between Wednesday, who Palmer will play, and her girlfriend Nikki, who will be portrayed by Ramm. Though their love is extremely potent, unfortunately they are in a situation where they have to make difficult choices to ensure their financial well-being, resulting in Nikki’s danger as she works the street circuit at the hands of a pimp. Now, her girlfriend must get her out of a terrifying situation so that the woman she adores will survive.
