Grammy-winning singer and songwriter Ozuna will be starring in Odisea, the upcoming biopic of his life and rise to fame as a reggaeton superstar from Puerto Rico. Making his debut as an executive producer, this film will be the first project released under Ozuna’s production company, Bear with Oz Films.
Directed by Spanish filmmaker Alexis Morante and produced by Zumaya Cordero with Caribbean Films, Odisea is a story that Ozuna, whose real name is Juan Carlos Ozuna Rosado, hopes will be an inspiration for viewers to never give up on their dreams.
When discussing the film in a statement for The Hollywood Reporter, Ozuna said, “Odisea is a project that we worked on with great dedication with the goal that my story can serve as an inspiration to children and young people to not stop pursuing their dreams, and never give up until they achieve them. We all can do it despite the obstacles that we face along the way. I am a living example of that.”
The cast features Jorge Lendeborg Jr., Dania Ramírez, Ana María Estupiñán, Jencarlos Canela, Jessica Cediel, Laura Gómez, Israel Lugo, Sawandi Wilson and Milly Quezada. This will also be Ozuna’s sixth film role, after his parts in F9, Tom and Jerry, Father of the Bride, Que León, and Que Leones.
“Directing Odisea has been a challenge in every sense, both artistic and technical, filming between Santo Domingo, San Juan, Puerto Rico, and New York with a first-class team led by Caribbean Films,” Morante told The Hollywood Reporter. “A film that faces a novel way of narrating to portray the essence of an interplanetary star of current music who, far from losing his roots, brings them to the foreground of a story full of feeling and inspiration.”
Portraying a story of staying dedicated through hardships to succeed, Morante said Odisea is a film “built from cinematic fiction, but which crosses the border of reality again and again with an actor interpreting his own life as I have never seen before.”
Odisea is coming soon to theaters but does not yet have a premiere date.
