‘Lando’: No Longer a Series, Switches to a Feature

Lando, the Disney+ series-turned-feature, is the newest of the Star Wars series that will be released. Donald Glover’s iteration of the character Lando Calrissian was set to hit the streaming service as a series, but it will now be released as a feature film.

Stephen Glover, the starring actor’s brother, was noted to be working on this project with Donald, according to Deadline. While on an episode of the Pablo Torre Finds Out podcast, Stephen stated, “It’s not even a show. The idea right now is to do a movie… Right now, because of the strike, it’s like telephone.”

Donald Glover’s first experience in the Star Wars series of films was in Solo: A Star Wars Story. Glover played a younger version of Billy Dee Williams’s character from Empire Strikes Back, Return of the Jedi, and The Rise of Skywalker. The character, Lando Calrissian, has been a fan-favorite for years since his first appearance.

At a Disney investor day in late 2020, it had been announced that Lando would be an exclusive Disney+ series. Due to the ongoing strike with WGA and SAG-AFTRA, the project will be a film.

Not much is known about the current state of the feature. Check out this clip from the Pablo Torre Finds Out podcast on Lando here:
