James Jordan (Landman, Mayor of Kingstown) has joined the ensemble cast of They Follow, writer-director David Robert Mitchell’s sequel to his 2014 breakout psychological horror film It Follows, backed and distributed by Neon. Jordan boards the production alongside returning star Maika Monroe and newcomer Naomi Ackie (Blink Twice). The cast also includes Jackie Earle Haley, Justine Lupe, Michael Gandolfini, Anna Mirodin, Jayne Taini, Tom Pecinka, Melora Walters, Ben Krieger, Natalie Shinnick, and Jan Hoag.

Plot and character details remain under wraps, though the narrative is confirmed to take place a decade after the events of the original film. The 2014 predecessor established the story of Jay Height (Monroe), a college student pursued by a slow-moving, shape-shifting supernatural entity transmitted through sexual encounters that relentlessly stalks its targets until passed to another host. Premiering at the Cannes Film Festival’s Critics’ Week before being acquired by Radius-TWC, It Follows grossed approximately $23 million globally against a $1.3 million budget and cemented Mitchell and Monroe as central figures in modern independent horror.

Mitchell directs from his own screenplay and serves as producer alongside Jake Weiner (Harvest Hill Entertainment), Chris Bender (Good Fear Content), Erik Rommesmo (Northern Light Media Ventures), Mike D’Alto and Randal Sandler (FirstGen Content), Scott Aharoni and Sinan Eczacıbaşı (Curious Gremlin), David Kaplan (Kaplan Morrison), Rebecca Green, and Laura Smith. Neon controls worldwide distribution rights and is managing international sales through Neon International.

Jordan is best known for portraying petroleum engineer Dale Bradley opposite Billy Bob Thornton on Paramount+’s Taylor Sheridan drama Landman. A frequent collaborator across Sheridan’s slate, his credits include Yellowstone, 1883, Special Ops: Lioness, Wind River, and Those Who Wish Me Dead. He will next appear in the independent drama Billings, directed by Alexander Ludwig.
