Lynn Shelton’s Laggies has just received a new trailer, portraying an unlikely friendship between a 28-year-old Keira Knightley (Anna Karenina) and 16-year-old Chloe Moretz (500Days of Summer). A24, who acquired the film at Sundance, has offered a glimpse of this coming of age tale about what it means to stop lagging and start living.
The film’s theme is similar to that of Noah Baumbach’s Frances Ha (2013), which depicts the struggles one girl faces to grow upt. The story centers on Knightley, who commits to making monumental life changes after rejecting a proposal from her long-term boyfriend.
The trailer (below) unveils the beginning of these discoveries. Her escape to Moretz’s house leads to insight for a new direction.
This comedy marks Andrea Seigl’s debut as a scribe. With Mark Webber (Scott Pilgrim vs. the World) and Ellie Kemper (Bridesmaids) also co-starring, we are hopeful of this cast’s potential to create charming chemistry.
Prepare to watch Knightley’s journey as she leaves High School behind and enters a new phase of adulthood. We only have to wait until the Fall for Laggies to hit theatres on September 26.
