Kyle Chandler (The Wolf of Wall Street) has joined the cast of director Kenneth Lonergan’s (You Can Count On Me) Manchester-by-the-Sea starring Casey Affleck (Gone Baby Gone) and Michelle Williams (Blue Valentine), according to The Hollywood Reporter. The movie follows an uncle (Affleck) who is forced to return home to Boston to take care of his nephew, after his older brother (Chandler) dies. His return home forces him to confront a secret tragedy in his past. Williams will play Affleck’s wife.
Since his Emmy-winning turn as Coach Eric Taylor on the television show Friday Night Lights, Chandler has been in a number of hit films including Argo, Zero Dark Thirty, and The Spectacular Now. He has yet to headline any major films but will star in the upcoming Netflix family drama series Bloodline. Lonergan has an equally impressive resume, having written the scripts for Gangs of New York and Analyze This. Despite his filmography, Manchester-by-the-Sea will only be the third film he has directed.
Manchester-by-the-Sea will be Affleck’s first movie after his supporting turn in Interstellar. Matt Damon, who was originally in Affleck’s role, is producing the movie. Shooting is set to start in April.
