Kristen Stewart to Play Actress Jean Seberg in ‘Against All Odds’

Indie mainstay Kristen Stewart is headed toward biopic territory for Against All Odds. She has been cast to play the famous French New Wave actress Jean Seberg in film about her tumultuous dealings with the Black Panther movement. Anthony Mackie, Jack O’Connell, and Margaret Qualley are also set to star.

Benedict Andrews, who helmed the Rooney Mara-starrer Una, is directing the film based on a script by Edge of Tomorrow 2 scribes Joe Shrapnel and Anna Waterhouse. Producers will be shopping the film around soon in search of distributors.

Jean Seberg most famously starred in Jean-Luc Godard’s Breathless. This film will be based on a true story surrounding Seberg when she was targeted by the illegal FBI surveillance program COINTELPRO during the 1960s due to her support of the Black Panther party.

Kristen Stewart, as usual, has a full slate of films ahead of her. She just starred in the Sundance film Lizzie, another based-on-a-true-story film surround Lizzie Borden. Coming up, she will appear in Underwater and JT Leroy with Laura Dern.
