Kristen Stewart (Still Alice) has signed on to join Michelle Williams (Blue Valentine) and Laura Dern (Wild) in Kelly Reichardt’s untitled drama, Deadline reports. The film is said to be comprised vignettes focusing on individuals in a small Montana town. Stewart’s character will be a lawyer from Boise who commutes several hours for a teaching job in Montana. She develops a friendship with one of the women taking her class.
James Le Gros (Point Break) and Jared Harris (Lincoln) will also star. Little has been revealed about Williams’ and Dern’s roles. However, it has been circulated that Williams will be playing the wife of Le Gros, who will also be carrying on a relationship with Dern. The movie is set to begin filming in Montana.
Reichardt is best known for writing and directing the indie dramas Wendy and Lucy (2008) – in which Williams starred – and last year’s Night Moves with Jessie Eisenberg (The Social Network).
Stewart has booked this role following a big 2014 – starring as Julianne Moore’s daughter in Still Alice, and in Clouds of Sils Maria, for which she won the Cesar Award for Best Supporting Actress (the first American actress to receive this honor). Besides beginning production on Reichardt’s project, 2015 will see Stewart take to the screen alongside Nicholas Hoult (Warm Bodies) in Equals, and Jesse Eisenberg in American Ultra.
