The Cannes Film Festival has officially added two more members to their 2018 Jury — actress Kristen Stewart and filmmaker Denis Villeneuve.
The Kristen Stewart addition will now make it five women on the jury including the festival’s president, Cate Blanchett. Women will be the majority on the jury this year with five women, and four men. The jury contains members from five different continents. At last year’s festival, Jury member and actress Jessica Chastain sent shockwaves through the festival calling for more diversity and inclusion, particularly in the films being presented and among female artists. It looks as though the festival is starting this initiative in their judging process moving forward.
The jury lineup will be:
Cate Blanchett (President)
Kristen Stewart
Ava DuVernay
Denis Villeneuve
Robert Guédiguian
Léa Seydoux
Khadja Nin
Chang Chen
Andrei Zvyagintsev
The French festival will be held from May 8-19.
