Rian Johnson had a successful outing when he released Knives Out in 2019. The drama of the film starts when Harlan’s housekeeper discovers Fran murdered with his throat cut. The movie follows a close similarity to the board game Clue with its murder mystery suspicion on determining who did it. With an all-star cast, the film gave an Oscar-worthy performance. But Johnson has plans to host a new cast of actors in the sequel to Knives Out.
Johnson recently spoke to Indiewire about working with Daniel Craig in an interview: “I’ll tell you, the truth is I had such a great time working with Daniel Craig and I had so much fun doing this on every level, from writing it to making it.”
Johnson also spoke to SiriusXM in February 2020 that he didn’t feel like he was writing a sequel to Knives Out 2 and instead felt the second movie would be like the first. Johnson credited Agatha Christie’s books for not always being the same story. Each story according to Johnson has different genres, and sometimes those genres can be unconventional. Johnson is confident that Knives Out 2 won’t be repeated on the last one, but rather a different concept that explores genres with a different narrative.
Knives Out 2 is set to release sometime in 2022 on Netflix.
