KJ Apa (Riverdale) and Nadia Parkes (Finding Emily) have been cast as the leads in an upcoming horror film for Waypoint Entertainment and Spooky Pictures, Obey. The film will be directed by Sophie Kargman, who is best known for directing the thriller Susie Searches in 2022. She will direct from a script penned by Ryan Farhoudi. Producing the film are Ken Kao, Josh Rosenbaum, and Emily Cheung from Waypoint Entertainment, as well as Steven Schneider, Roy Lee, and Simmy Wolf from Spooky Pictures. The film is being distributed by Sony’s Screen Gems. Plot details for the film have not been disclosed as of yet.
Waypoint and Spooky Pictures recently collaborated on Adam Scott’s horror film Hokum, which was distributed by Neon earlier this year. Waypoint Entertainment’s other notable films include Project Hail Mary, The Favorite, Cuckoo, The Nice Guys and I Love Boosters. Spooky Pictures is unsurprisingly known for producing horror films, with Late Night with the Devil, Strange Darling and undertone being some of their claims to fame.
KJ Apa is best known for his role as Archie Andrews on Riverdale. He is also playing James Stewart in the upcoming biopic Jimmy. Nadia Parkes is an up-and-coming British actress and recently starred in the rom-com Finding Emily. She is also set to appear in the Taron Egerton-led Everybody Wants to F*ck Me.
