After his character played a big role in the fifth season finale of Game of Thrones, Kit Harington (Pompeii) has now replaced Robert Pattinson (Twilight) in the upcoming western Brimstone.
Harington will play Samuel, the outlaw who plays a pivotal role after a new reverend (Guy Pearce, Results) moves into town. Dakota Fanning (Very Good Girls), who replaced Mia Wasikowska (Madame Bovary), and Harrington’s Game of Thrones co-star Carice van Houten (Valkyrie) round out the cast.
This is a big move for Harrington, who has slowly been getting more film roles as his character on Game of Thrones grows in prominence. Since appearing on the popular HBO show, his work has included How to Train Your Dragon 2 and Silent Hill: Revelation 3D. More recently, he starred in the period piece Testament of Youth. He also has a starring role in the upcoming sports mockumentary 7 Days in Hell.
This is the first english-speaking movie for Dutch writer/director Martin Koolhoven (Winter in Wartime). Brimstone recently started shooting and is set to come out next year.
