Kino Lorber Looks at Fall Release for Anton Yelchin’s ‘Porto’

The international film and video distributor, Kino Lorber, has recently acquired all North American rights to Porto, starring the late Anton Yelchin (Star Trek) and Lucie Lucas; Gabe Killinger and Larry Gross (48 Hrs.) wrote the film. Killinger also went on to direct Porto as well.

The film was shot on location in Porto, Portugal, and premiered in the fall in the San Sebation Film Festival’s New Directors competition. Its North American premiere is set to take place at the South by Southwest Film Festival later this year

Porto is a romantic drama that focuses on two outcasts who share an intimate yet fleeting moment with each other. Yelchin portrays an American who’s on the outs with his family, while Lucas plays a French student who’s traveling and/or studying abroad with her professor who also happens to be her lover. Their paths cross a few times while in Porto and eventually the two passing ships collide in a night of intimacy. The film follows their separate lives years later, focusing on moments in which they recall their past encounter that seems to still have them stirred up.

Kino Lorber is looking to release the film in the fall. Variety was the first to report.
