Actors Kingston Rumi Southwick and Arthur Conti have joined the cast of Egg Baby, an upcoming romantic comedy feature from Amazon MGM Studios and XYZ Films starring Ariana Greenblatt. Directed by Natalia Anderson (Maggie, Nobody Wants This) from an original screenplay by Sawyer Perry, the high school-set comedy follows an unconventional artist (Greenblatt) and a high school football quarterback (Southwick). The two students are assigned to co-parent a raw egg as a domestic simulation project for health class. While managing the shared responsibility of protecting the egg, nicknamed “Yolk-o,” the pair find unexpected common ground and develop a romantic connection. Specific details regarding Conti’s character role remain under wraps.
The feature is produced by XYZ Films alongside Allison Friedman (The Mortuary Collection, The Fix), in association with BuzzFeed Studios. The film is set for a worldwide streaming release on Prime Video.
Southwick previously appeared in Apple TV+’s comedy series Widow’s Bay, playing the son of Matthew Rhys, as well as Apple TV+’s limited legal drama Presumed Innocent alongside Jake Gyllenhaal and Ruth Negga. His screen credits also include the thriller series 56 Days.
Conti recently appeared in Jane Schoenbrun’s slasher Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma opposite Hannah Einbinder and Gillian Anderson, as well as Tim Burton’s fantasy sequel Beetlejuice Beetlejuice. His upcoming projects include Ti West’s Ebenezer and Mike Flanagan’s television series adaptation of Stephen King’s novel Carrie for Amazon MGM Studios.
Amazon MGM Studios has not yet announced an official production timeline or premiere release date for Egg Baby.
