According to Collider, Kiki’s Delivery Service will have a short-term 4K IMAX experience. The premiere is scheduled to be on March 13 and will be accessible in English dub or Japanese. The film centers around Kiki, a young girl who practices witchcraft and flees her home to combine her witch skills in a bakery delivery service for the owners Osono and Fukuo.
The Japanese voice actors include Minami Takayama (Detective Conan, Yaiba) as the titular character, Reí Sakuma (Go! Anpanman: Baikinman vs Baikinman!?, Hamtaro: Adventures in Ham-Ham Land) as jiji the cat, Mieko Nobusawa (Summer Wars, Attack on Tomorrow) as Kiki’s mother Kokiri, Yuriko Fuchizaki as Ket (Sakura Wars, Akira), Koichi Miura (The Person I Want to Meet the Most, His Bad Blood) as Kiki’s father Okino, Keiko Toda (Vampire Hunter D, The Colors Within) as Osono and Koichi Yamadera (Stitch!, Batman Ninja) as Fukuo. The English dubbing actors include Kristen Dunst (Marie Antoinette, Bring it on), Phil Hartman (Jingle All the Way, The Simpsons), Tress MacNeille (Animaniacs, Mickey Mouse), Debbie Reynolds (One For The Money, Halloweentown High) and Janeane Garofalo (Ratatouille, Reality Bites).
The film was directed by Japanese animator and filmmaker Hayao Miyazaki (The Boy and the Heron, Castle in the Sky) who has created staples such as Spirited Away, My Neighbor Totoro, Howl’s Moving Castle, Ponyo and many more. The last Ghibli film to have an IMAX premiere in 2025 was Princess Mononoke and anticipate to release more of their films in the 4K status.
Spirited Away won “Best Animated Feature” as the first foreign animated feature in 2003 at the Academy Awards. Kiki’s delivery service was Miyazaki’s fifth film. It is currently available to watch on HBO Max, Hulu and Prime. However, tickets for the 4K IMAX release are on sale.
